In recent years, consumers have massively adopted eco-friendly water bottles to replace plastic as the use of plastic is nonbiodegradable. To overcome these challenges, the Australian government has taken the initiative and introduced National Plastic Plan 2021, which includes regulation on single unprocessed polymer or resin waste plastic exports, phase-out non-compostable plastic packaging products containing additive fragmental technology which do not meet relevant compostable standards, phase-out expanded polystyrene (EPS) in loose-fill and molded consumer packaging and food and beverage containers, and phase-out PVC packaging labels. Hence, as per the impositions by the Australian government, the manufacturers focus on eco-friendly disposable water bottles; a few companies sell water in boxes and cans. Replacing plastic bottles with biodegradable water bottles can fundamentally change the industry and a whole. For instance, companies such as Liquid Death offer 100% pure water inside beer-like aluminum cans. Aluminum is one of the most generous materials known for its ability to be recycled endlessly. Similarly, the Rethink Water brand manufactures cartons from sustainable tetra packs and recyclable and biodegradable packaging materials. The cartons are BPA-free and natural. Hence, the growing impositions by the Australian government on plastic use encourage manufacturers to reduce plastic material and create lucrative opportunities in the eco-friendly water bottle market during the forecast period.
